Nominate An Educator of the Year Today

Today, we announced the launch of our inaugural Educator of the Year Awards to recognize exceptional educators who are shaping the next generation of students. Building on our 2018 K-12 Teacher of the Year Award Program, the 2019 Educator of the Year Awards recognizes exceptional educators who are positively impacting the lives of K-20 students. 

Here’s everything you need to know to nominate your favorite teacher, professor, or all-around-awesome educator:  

Canvas is accepting award nominations until 5:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, May 16, 2019, or until 500 nominations are received, whichever comes first. One winning educator will be selected from each category. 

K-12: 

-Elementary School

-Middle School

-High School

Higher Education: 

-Adjunct Instructor/Professor

-Assistant/Associate Professor

-Professor

 

Winners will be notified by Friday, May 31, 2019. Each winner will receive: 

-A complimentary registration code to InstructureCon 2019 (July 9-11, Long Beach)  

-Nearpod (K-12) or CircleIn (Higher Ed) classroom license

-Award & recognition at InstructureCon 2019

-Amazing Canvas swag that you know and love

-Inclusion in a national press release, Canvas blog, and social channels

-The potential for additional media coverage

-The warm glow of victory and confirmation of your awesomeness

 

Nominations will be judged on the following criteria: 

K-12: 

  • How does this teacher redefine traditional classroom activities to prepare students for college and careers? (25%)
  • How does this teacher’s classroom experience improve achievement for at-risk populations? (25%)
  • How does this teacher impact student engagement, curiosity, and/or achievement? Provide specific examples of results. (50%)

Higher Ed: 

  • How does this educator redefine traditional learning activities to prepare students for college and career? (25%)
  • How does this educator’s classroom experience improve student outcomes for at-risk populations? (25%)
  • How does this educator impact student engagement, curiosity, and/or achievement? Provide specific examples of results. (50%)
